Olcott Oration 2014 : A Confluence of Medicine, Spirituality, and Stress Management
The Sri Lankan Olcott Schools Alumni-UAE is proud to have hosted the Olcott Oration on November 23, 2014, at the Trader’s Hotel, Deira, Dubai. The esteemed Dr. Sunil J. Wimalawansa, a luminary in the fields of Medicine and Endocrinology from New Jersey, USA, delivered an insightful lecture on “Alternative Medicine and Spirituality as Tools for Stress Management and Enhancing Individual Performance.”
The annual Olcott Oration, a tradition upheld by the alumni association, once again served as a platform for intellectual discourse, commemorating the visionary Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, whose enduring legacy in the realm of education continues to inspire.
Dr. Wimalawansa, with his extensive credentials – MD, PhD, MBA, DSc, FACE, FRCP, FRCP (London), FRCPath (UK), FCCP, FACP – captivated the audience with his holistic approach towards healthcare. The oration delved into the nuanced interplay between alternative healing practices and spirituality in the context of stress management, a topic of immense relevance in the fast-paced lifestyle of the modern world.
The event, free to the public and capped at 50 participants, emphasized the need for an integrative perspective on health, encouraging the exploration of non-traditional therapies in conjunction with established medical practices to optimize well-being.
