The inaugural Olcott Schools Cricket Tournament held in 2007 marked a historic moment for the Olcott Schools Alumni UAE. The tournament, which aimed to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among the alumni of eight prestigious Sri Lankan schools, saw enthusiastic participation from Ananda College, Dharmaraja College, Nalanda College, Maliyadeva College, and Mahinda College.
The event was graced by the presence of Mrs. Chandi Munasinghe, Managing Director of Chef Lanka Restaurant in Dubai, who served as the Chief Guest. Her presence added prestige to the occasion and inspired the players to showcase their best on the field.
After intense competition, Ananda College emerged victorious, clinching the championship title. Maliyadeva College put up a commendable performance and secured the runner-up position. The tournament also recognized outstanding individual performances, with Thakshila Wijesuriya from Maliyadeva College being named the Best Allrounder, Sanjeewa Karunasekara from Ananda College as the Best Batsman, Darshana Nakandala from Ananda College as both the Best Bowler and Best Fielder.
The success of the inaugural tournament laid the foundation for future editions of the Olcott Schools Cricket Tournament, establishing it as a prestigious event that celebrates the spirit of cricket and the bond among the alumni of Olcott Schools.
